Preparing for your Visit

Your First Visit

When you come in, our friendly staff will evaluate your wound, your general health, and your medical history.  Depending on your situation, you may also require additional tests that are non-invasive and provide information about blood flow in the wound area.

  • Call for your appointment today
  • Make a list of any allergies you have and any medications you are currently taking, including aspirin, vitamins and herbal supplements
  • Bring your medical records, insurance and forms
  • If you have diabetes, bring a snack and your medication
  • Contact us with any questions
Your Healing Program
When your test results are back, we will develop a treatment program based on your individual needs.  This program will include regular visits to the Wound Care Center® to provide treatment, evaluate progress and make any changes that might be needed to improve the healing process.  We will work closely with you throughout your entire treatment program.  You (or your caregiver) will be provided detailed instructions on home care, nutritional recommendations, dressing changes and protecting the wound from further injury
You are a Vital Part of the Program

Much of the success of your treatment depends on you.  The rate of healing success increases significantly when you keep your appointments, follow directions carefully and watch your progress closely between visits.

Any time you or your caregiver have questions, our staff is available.  In fact, we encourage you to ask questions.
The Wound Care Center Works with Your Doctor
The Wound Care Center works with your personal doctor, just like any other medical specialist.  We will discuss your treatment program with your doctor and keep him or her updated on your progress, unless instructed otherwise.  Remember, you will need to keep seeing your doctor for routine medical care.
