Diabetic neuropathic ulcers result from trauma or injury to the foot that goes unnoticed because of a loss of sensations (neuropathy) in the feet, caused by diabetes. Repeat injuries that are undetected may lead to tissue damage and ulceration.
If you suffer from diabetes, see your doctor regularly and remove your shoes and socks at every visit.
Remind your doctor to check your feet.
See your doctor promptly if you develop an area of poor color, or a blister, callus or sore.
Call the Wound Care Center if a sore does not heal promptly! |
